Regards to the previous specifications

(Prior to September 2022)

brands that had implemented AnyGift utilized its e-gift functionality, however, due to constraints in Shopify's cart system, inputting a "shipping address" was mandatory. As such, the AnyGift specification entailed that while a recipient's address was not required when utilizing the e-gift feature, there was an inconvenience of needing to input one's own address.

Note that previously, we had advised users to input their own address as the destination for e-gift URLs when their expiration date passed.

The previous purchase flow for e-gift was as follows:

e-gift purchase > inputting shipping address > purchase completion.

With the AnyGift update in September 2022

when a purchaser intends to gift an e-gift, it will no longer be necessary to input a "shipping address" upon proceeding to payment, and only inputting "payment information" will be mandatory. (Note that in the case of guest purchases, inputting a "billing address" will also be necessary)

The updated purchase flow for e-gift will be:

e-gift purchase > purchase completion

eliminating the step of inputting shipping address.

The benefit after the update

In comparison to the previous system, the update allows for a significant reduction in the number of screen transitions, and eliminates the inconvenience of needing to input one's own address when purchasing an e-gift, resulting in a substantial improvement in conversion rate (CVR).
