Prerequisites
- In Shopify, inputting a shipping address is mandatory, even for e-gift purchases.
- Additionally, in order to prevent any burden on businesses when the e-gift URL expires and the product is cancelled, we request that a shipping address be entered.
- Therefore, on product pages, we clearly state that inputting an "expiration date shipping address" is required for the purchaser.
Proposed Solution
- However, even with the above prerequisites in mind, it may be unclear for e-gift purchases that a shipping address is required on the checkout page.
- While it is possible to edit the checkout page on Shopify's Plus plan, for those without the Plus plan, the following plan is currently the best option:
- On the Shopify management screen, go to Theme > Actions > Edit Language and select the checkout page.
- Change "Checkout contact" to "Shipping address (※ Required for e-gift expiration)"
- Note: This change will apply to all purchases, including regular purchases, and may make it more confusing. Please make the setting according to the consultation with your brand.
Once the setting is completed, it will appear as follows:
Additional Information
- Shopify has announced that they will release an update in late 2022 which will allow for editing the checkout page directly on the platform. Once this feature is released, AnyGift will also quickly adapt and it will be possible for all Shopify plans to dynamically change the "Shipping address" to "Expiration date shipping address" for e-gift purchases. Please wait for our support in late 2022.
